On patrol with the Guardia Civil in Spain
Working where others go on vacation: That was the case for police inspector Taïs Martinez Canamero from the North Police Station. She was in Santa Margalida on Mallorca from July 1 to 24 and supported the "Guardia Civil" - the Spanish police force.

The basis for this is the "European Commissariats" exchange program of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Every year, police officers with language skills who work on patrol duty in NRW can apply for an assignment abroad. They help both the local police and holidaymakers in difficult situations. This is made possible by the "Prüm Treaty", an agreement between a total of eleven EU member states to intensify cross-border police cooperation. The project runs from July 1 to September 30.

Rewind to the beginning: this year, a total of ten police officers went to Spain, eight of them from NRW. They were able to choose their location between Ibiza, Mallorca, Càdiz and A Coruña. But before going abroad, they all had to put their Spanish skills to the test. No problem for the Krefeld native with Spanish roots, especially as her parents both come from Spain. Just one reason why she mastered the selection process at the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Interior with aplomb.

On Mallorca, she worked in uniform and in shifts. So far, she was used to everything. She had contact with many German tourists. Everyone was enthusiastic and positive.
