"Tom!" Lisa's scream makes everyone flinch. Tom has just been hit by a car on his scooter and Lisa is sure that she is to blame. This is the dramatic climax of the play "Friendship in Danger" by the new FAIRKEHRS puppet theater of the Krefeld police.
This exciting but also educational one-act play for children in the first year of primary school is about friendship and solidarity. The main aim of the Krefelder Fairkehr initiative is to make children fit for road traffic. To this end, the new play aims to deepen experiences that children have already gained together with their parents during pedestrian training with the district police officer at the daycare center: for example, that the curb is actually a stop stone. When Freddy FAIR picks up his guitar at the end and the children sing along, they have taken a further step towards more independent participation in road traffic. In return, they receive a stamp in their new Freddy's FAIRclub membership card, the "Mobil-Pass". After the stamp from the daycare center, this is already the second - it also makes it clear to the parents: the little ones are already managing a little more - even without the adults.
The educational and didactic puppet show aimed at first-graders has a long tradition at the Krefeld police. Since the 1960s, specially trained police officers, together with the traffic puppet, grandmother and Seppl, and later also with the help of stage dog Wuschel, have been teaching children how to behave safely on foot in road traffic.
The changing times are always taken into account, and so the FAIRKEHRS puppet stage has been offering an up-to-date program since November 2020 to present the current challenges in road traffic in a child-friendly way.
These are the stars:
Lisa, 6 years old and just started school. Blonde pigtails and always attentive. She immediately stands out. She is Tom's best friend. He is also 6 and a first grader. A little adventurous, he is already riding his new scooter a little more brashly. Freddy FAIR has been supporting the Krefeld FAIRKEHR initiative for several years. He is the founder of "Freddys FAIRCLUB" and visits kindergartens together with the police. But he also works with experts from the city council to check for damage to footpaths and cycle paths, for example, or the lack of lighting in some schools. In the puppet show "Friendship in Danger", he helps the children with good tips on FAIR TRAFFIC safety.
The puppets are brought to life by the police road safety advisors Manuela Letzelter, Nadine Habeck, Nina Wagner and Manuel Többen.
